HTML5 and FLASH are very different things with (maybe) some intersection points (i.e the posibility to show/embed videos on web browsers). I like HTML5 and CSS3 and I hope its strong Market penetration as soon as posible, but they are really far away to take down Flash.

I´m mac user -and I also use linux and windows- i must say i don´t have any problem with Flash, but i can´t take this personal experience als fact. A (maybe??) better analysis (than a individual CPU fan “test”… please don´t get me wrong :-) ) can be found here:

Flash is much more than a plugin to see videos. If HTML5 takes the online-video Market doesn´t mean that Flash will be dead. The people behind HTML5 have to solve on the first place their own war with the video codecs (http://my.opera.com/Aux/blog/2010/02/01/html5-video-codec-war)

If Apple takes decisions like you say doesn´t mean ether that Flash have no chances to “survive”. Flash have already -at least 98%- penetration markt. I don´t really understand the politics of Apple: It is because Flash took down Quicktime a long time ago and wants to play back, or everything is about the licences they have with the whole “WHATWG”- thing??

I don’t know the reason(s) for Apple blocking Flash for their mobile Devices ether. I think that HTML5 and Flash will happily live together side by side for a long time. I was only surprised, what you can already do with HTML5, not only with Video ( the codec discussion left out ;) ) but also with animation.
As I mentioned before that I’m not a Programmer, but as a developer for mobile Apps HTML5 will give new opportunities. So you don’t only have to develop for one plattform, e.g like the iPhone or iPad, with this new standart you get new possibilities. And that’s whats so fascinating for me/us.
